Golf Balls
Golf balls are the small white balls used to play the game of golf. The balls are designed to work with the golf club so that upon impact the club compresses the ball. This design allows the player to control spin or backspin. Together, the compression and backspin create lift.
By rule, a golf ball can weigh no more than 1.62 oz, and it has a diameter of 1.68 inches. It also needs to be tested for standard performance in velocity, distance, and symmetry. Anything that doesn’t adhere to these regulations cannot be used in an official tournament.
In order to keep the aerodynamics optimal, the ball needs to be clean. Golfers can wash their balls anywhere there is water, but there are also mechanical ball washers available which are designed to do the job quickly and efficiently. These washers are often available on golf courses.
