Golf Clubs
Golf clubs are essential to playing the game of golf, as they are used to hit the golf ball. Each club is composed of a shaft with a grip and a clubhead. The majority of woods and irons are labeled with a number. Higher numbers indicate higher lofts, which typically give the ball a higher trajectory—but a shorter distance.
There are a few different kinds of golf clubs. Woods are used for long-distance shoots from the fairway, or tee shots in general. Irons are the most versatile clubs. They are used for a variety of different situations and shots, while putters are used mainly on the green for short distance taps.
Perhaps the most important variation from club to club is the loft, which is the angle between the club’s face and the vertical plane. This loft is what determines the angle of the ball’s trajectory as it flies from the tee.
